A Marine Affair
Releases June 7!

Rick rolled the bottle between his palms
and stared at it. Eli’s dismissal cut right to the bone. The man knew exactly where
to hit and when to maximize the pain.
looks good….
Understatement of the year, Eli looked
better than good. He’d always been fit and trim, but his year in Africa
chiseled away any trace of softness. His tanned skin, crowned by a hint of
sun-bleached blond in his normally sandy hair, and a shirt stretched too
tightly across well-formed muscles—the desire to embrace him flared through
Rick. Years of hit or miss assignations and weekend escapes made the time they
spent together valuable, but the last separation hurt worse than the others.
Hurt because he wasn’t sure of his
reception. He’d debated whether ambushing him at the airport was a good idea,
but after months of containing the urge to contact him, Rick couldn’t let him
arrive home without some kind of greeting.
shouldn’t have left the car at the airport.
But he couldn’t let Eli keep walking away from him. He
screwed up, so he needed to fix it. The man had to talk to him first.
Or listen.
Either would provide him the opening he needed.

About A Marine Affair

Commander Rick McConnell and Colonel Elijah Masters have been secret lovers for years. They nurtured their very private relationship with planned vacations and leaves, always meeting somewhere different—always escaping off the grid. It worked for them—career officers with a desire to serve their country and a passion for each other. The repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell provides them with the tremendous opportunity to come out to their friends and loved ones—Rick wants to seize the day, but Eli isn’t so certain. His hesitation leads to a fight, an ultimatum, and a breakup. Rather than confront their issues, Eli takes a foreign assignment.

A year’s separation changes both of them. The last person Eli expects to see when he steps off the plane is Rick, but the physician wants another chance with the only man he’s ever loved and he has a plan. Will bitterness, recriminations, and loss keep them apart or can these two officers rediscover the faith and loyalty that bound them for so long?

I really enjoyed this short. Are there more m/m romances upcoming?

    • Heather Long says:

Yes, I have a couple that are planned, but not sure when they'll be ready to go. At the moment, they are still percolating in the back of my brain! But thanks for asking Hannah!
