Rachel Manning’s story is finally out in the world.
This book has lived with me for a long time. Some of you met Rachel years ago in Untouchable, and somewhere along the way she stopped feeling like a side character and became someone I needed to understand better.
Impulse Control became a story about wanting things that don’t fit neatly together. About trying to figure yourself out while everyone around you already thinks they know who you’re supposed to be. About love, ambition, identity, and making choices before you’re fully ready for them.
Writing it hurt a little (and in some cases, it hurt a lot).
The last two chapters made me cry while I was working on them, which probably tells you everything you need to know about Rachel.
She’s messy. Emotional. Restless. She gets things wrong. But I love her for trying anyway.
I hope if you read this book, you find a little bit of yourself in her story too.
